What are the major differences between paraplegia and quadriplegia?

Arm function: Paraplegia is paralysis of the legs (no movement or feeling). Tetraplegia (quadriplegia is an older term) is paralysis of the arms and the legs. In both, a person has also lost control of bladder and bowels. Both are forms of spinal cord injury or other problem of the cord. Sometimes the loss is incomplete (weakness rather than no muscle function; retention of some feeling).
