A member asked:

Could fibromyalgia cause same symptoms as osteoarthritis in my knees.i have no swelling but some pain.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Observe closely: Fibromyalgia classically affects soft tissue pain messengers (ligaments, muscles, skin, even blood vessels). Osteoarthritis affects bone. Because the knee is a complex structure comprised of both bone & soft tissue, it may be hard to distinguish. But do you have fibromyalgia--pain on both sides of the body and above & below the waist?
