At what specific age does a person with acute scoliosis under go surgery?

Scoliosis: Hello. Scoliosis is rarely an acute process, especially as a adult without an infection or some other reason like that. Adult scoliosis is usually treated with conservative care such as therapy and injections. If these treatments fail, usually, surgery is recommended for curves around 40-50 degrees (the lower spine does not tolerate scoliosis as well as upper spine).

Varies: The treatment of scoliosis in general is based upon the age of the patient and the size of the curve. In general, curves greater than 45 degrees will tend to progress and surgery is indicated. The term acute is not typically used to describe a structural scoliosis because acute refers to short term usually lasting less than 3 months, and scoliosis is more of a chronic condition. Thank you.
