Depends...: If the cough is improving over time, it could be due to a viral upper respiratory infection. If the cough is not improving over time, or it is not completely resolved in another week or 2, then you need to see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Other possible etiologies include bronchospasm from any etiology, gerd, nasal problem or a combination of factors. If you smoke, you need to quit.
