A member asked:

Is allegra (fexofenadine) or zyrtec safer? which one has no cardiac effects at all?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Allegra (fexofenadine) safer: Zyrtec causes sedation & slows reaction time in about 8% of users. Allegra (fexofenadine) does not. In high doses zyrtec can have adverse effects on cardiac rate & rhythm through its mild effects as an anticholinergic agent. Not so with allegra (fexofenadine). The parent compound of allegra (fexofenadine), terfenadine marketed as seldane, caused rare but serious heart rhythm problems. Allegra (fexofenadine) does not cause these problems at all.
