Which means one of your organs, (a loop of bowel), gets stuck in the hernia. Take a friend with you to help ask questions. Ask about risk, mesh, recurrence, technique, restrictions and length of recovery.

Questions: Ask the surgeon how large the hernia is, whether mesh will be used, will the surgery be done via laparoscope, what is the chance of the hernia coming back (recurrence), what activity restrictions will be in place after the surgery, what are the potential complications from the surgery, what is the recovery time. Is surgery a must, depends on symptoms and the size of the hernia.
