Had an incident of shingles - 2 questions: 1. likelyhood of getting again & 2. will vaccine help and to what degree of effectiveness?

See below: For most people, the risk of having shingles recur after the initial occurrence is fairly low. Even if you have had shingles, you can still receive the shingles vaccine to help prevent future occurrences of the disease. There is no specific time that you must wait after having shingles before receiving the shingles vaccine.

Shingrix: “Healthy adults 50 years and older should get two doses of Shingrix, separated by 2 to 6 months. You should get Shingrix even if in the past you: had shingles, received Zostavax, are not sure if you had chickenpox. There is no maximum age for getting Shingrix.” REF: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/public/shingrix/index.html. 19 per 10,000 had recurrence after vaccination.
