Hello. my gp found i have 2swollen nodes in my chest. why is he sending me to a pulmonary doctor instead of a oncologist? thanks.

Determine what it is: It needs to be determined what the swollen nodes are from first. It doesn't necessarily mean cancer - it can be an infection or an inflammatory or autoimmune disease. If either of these, it's not for an oncologist. If cancer, need to know if it's lung or another cancer that spread there. Treatments are different for different cancers. Then, the oncologist knows what to do for you.

To know : You have enlarged nodes which can be due to multiple reasons other than cancer. The pulmonary specialist will do certain procedures to determine the cause. Should cancer be diagnosed, then you would see an oncologist. Best regards, hope it's nothing serious.
