A member asked:

How to tell if pulmonary aspiration? i forced liquid down the wrong hole and chest is a little tight, coughing up mucus. can breathe but worried. gp?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Aspiration: You may have aspirated some liquid causing that reaction. At this time, since you're not showing major signs such as respiratory distress, fever, sharp chest pain on inspiration(pleurisy), wheezing or uncontrollable coughing, I would simply continue to observe for those adverse signs and call your physician if any of them develop.
