Tell me about a twin block dental appliance?

Fixing the bite : It is formed from an upper and lower acrylic piece that looks like a mouth guard. It can be taken in and out of the mouth. It works to hold the lower jaw in a forward position to correct a bad bite or malocclusion, and to allow the lower jaw to grow. Most patients wear the appliance for 9months to a year.

Repositioner: This is a set of upper and lower removable appliances that encourage you to position your jaw forward and allow your back teeth to erupt, potentially correcting a deep bite and a skeletal malocclusion. It can have a beneficial impact on TMJ issues if present, as well. Regular trips to the treating dentist are important to allow them to adjust these appliances to allow for molar eruption.

Orthopedic appliance: Twin block, headgear, herbst appliance are all orthopedic appliances that hinder growth of the upper jaw so the lower jaw can catch up and fix the bite. A twin block is a plastic appliance (fairly bulky), you like know what a headgear is.... And a herbst appliance is usually and all metal appliance that is generally glued in, so compliance is not an issue.
