Wound care: For a recent wound, keep it clean, apply small amount of antibiotic ointment, and keep covered (don't let it dry out). I recommend skinmedica scar recovery gel for my patients. Once sutures are out use sunblock. For older scars, scar revision or derm abrasion may help. Discuss with a local facial plastic surgeon to get recommendations for your specific situation.

Follow physician's: Recommemdations which include keeping wound clean and moist with avoidance of sun exposure and tobacco use with timely removal of sutures and subsequent protection against repeated or excessive wound tension and shear/stress forces. The use of silicone gels may also be recommended along with gentle topical scar pressure.
