Yes: An egd is a procedure where a scope is placed into the esophagus to check for any abnormalities there and in the stomach and sometimes the 1st section of the small intestine (duodenum). Usually deep sedation is used and sometimes we call deep sedation general anesthesia too when the sedation is so deep it mimics ga. The meds are always titrated in so that you get just what you need.
