Time & Advil (ibuprofen): Orthodontic elastics which are very commonly used, cause distress for about 3 days. It causes upper and lower teeth to move against each other, that is a rubber band pulls both ends toward the middle. Many people give in to the discomfort before accommodation, which lasts 3 days, 4 at most. Use advil (ibuprofen) to help over the hump. Patients who comply with elastics, drastically reduce treatment time.
