Ask the patient: It could be painful, but it is never ethical to "put down" a human. Ask the patient what his/her wishes are for treatment or pain control.

Treatment: Other option are available for end stage liver disease like liver transplantation rather than ' put them down' . Patients who had liver transplantation had successful normal life. Concerned families can donate part of their liver , as the waiting list for cadaver donar is very very long , some may not get in their life time.
