Any time: If this person is not a candidate for a portocaval shunt, a liver transplant, or treatment of the underlying liver disease (and don't think this is always impossible), death may come at any time from variceal bleeding, pneumonia, or some other mechanism. Usually these people do not survive more than a few months but there is no predicting the exact time.

Ascites and fatigue: You need to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. There are no good causes of ascites and you need to find out its cause in your case. It sounds like you have a serious problem with your liver and need to have it taken of as soon as possible.

Hepatic encephalopat: It sounds like hepatic encephalopathy, it is difficult to predict with out having some labs. Survival and mortality is predicted by a a formula known as meld score.
