What's the difference between a heel spur and plantars facsitis?

Heel spurs dont hurt: Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammation of the plantar fascia. When i get an xray of the foot for plantar fasciitis, i commonly see a heel spur. The spur results from the pull of the plantar fascia. While patients attribute the heel spur with pain, the spur in actuality doesn't contribute to any discomfort.

See below : Plantar fasciitis is swelling and pain of dense tissue that runs from the heel bone to the toes. Heel spur is a build up of calcium at the bottom edge of the heel bone. Plantar fasciitis often occurs without their being a spur.

Bone/inflammation: Not all plantar fasciitis is associated with a heel spur. In fact, heel spurs are rarely painful. The heel spur is formed by pull of the plantar fascial ligament on its insertion at the bottom of the calcaneus bone. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascial ligament.
