Folic acid: Folate (folic acid) is present in green, leafy vegetables, fruits, cereals, nuts, grains, and meats. Folic acid is the synthetic form of the vitamin that is included in supplements and food fortification. It has many of the same biologic effects as folate (folic acid) but is more bioavailable and therefore is relatively more effective.
