Not so good: Marijuana increases heart rate from 20-100% shortly after smoking, and this can last at least 3 hours afterwards. Smoking marijuana also makes you nearly 5 times as likely to have a heart attack during the first hour after smoking. This may be from the increased heart rate and arrythmias that happen with this. Risk is higher with older populations and those with existing heart problems.
