Depends: Every thing need to be done with moderation. Excessive exercise would eventually changes and lower you metabolic rate, and eventually causes weight gain.

Yes: As with any activity, you should slowly build up to allow your body to get accustomed to the new activity and to avoid injury. But, many people are able to do more than one workout a day without problems.
