Is peptac ok for gerd, i've tried everything else, and was given this by the hospital.?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Yes: Pepcid & Zantac (ranitidine) and others are h2 blockers that decrease stomach acid. Ppis such as Prilosec (omeprazole) & Protonix (pantoprazole) are much better at cutting off acid production. Both are used to treat gerd & stomach ulcers. You need to find the right drug at the right dose for you that you can afford. Ask your family doc to be sure hospital checked for h pylori infection.
