May co-exist: Abnormal thyroid function can be associated with carpal tunnel syndrome, but cts can also exist for unknown reasons. It is thus possible to continue to have symptoms of cts after thyroid function is normalized.

Thyroid carpal tunnl: The myxedematous tissue or excess fluid around the cells that accompanies under treated or untreated thyroid disease can create o exacerbate carpal tunnel or carpal tunnel like symptoms. Make sure that not only thyroid disease is treated but that one does not have so called subclinical thyroid disease with normal labs but a thyroid issue as well.
