Not kidney damage: Unfractionated heparin is excreted from the body in two ways, neither of which affect the kidney. With low molecular weight heparin (enoxaparin), one need account for kidney function. If it’s poor, then the dose may need to be adjusted. Otherwise, the patient may be over anticoagulated, the blood unable to clot, and a major bleed may occur - not kidney damage, but damage to the patient.
