A member asked:

Why did the pharmacist give me a dtp shot instead of the regular tetanus shot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rarely kept in stock: After the development of adult friendly pertussis vaccines in the 1990's, the need for and use of the single antigen tetanus vaccine declined. I never kept it in stock since it always expired before I needed to use it. The combo vaccines give more value. That said, it might have been an error. In fact the DTP has not been around for years. The TdaP is the vaccine used in older kids or adults.
