Specialized glands: Brain signals regulateleydig cells in the testes which secrete testosterone. In males, most of the testosterone is produced in the testes and a small amount is derived from the adrenal gland. In females, small amounts of testosterone are produced in the ovaries and derived from the adrenal gland.
