Is it a good idea to finish amox-clav before switching to doxycycline?

Why Switch?: Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (augmentin) is a very broad spectrum anitbiotic, meaning it kilsl a lot of different bacteria. Is it not working? Then a culture & sensitivity test is necessary to find out exactly which antibiotic will be effective.
