On amoxicillin 4days im supposed to finish for 10 days a different doctor put me on doxycycline and told me to stop the amoxicillin i'm so confused. is it normal to stop one and start another? on for tight lung pain and short of breath.

Antibiotics: May be revised based on response and once culture results become available. It sounds like you may be getting treatment for pneumonia. Do not hesitate to ask your docs about treatment goals.
