Be consistent: Have a stable bedtime preceded by reading, prayers and other soothing rituals (not stimulants like tv, video games or active play). Set expectations that the child will fall asleep in his own bed. Explain that, if he gets out of bed, you'll walk him back in from behind without talking or making eye contact. He'll test you by getting worse before he gets better, but stick to it till he complies.
