Gastritis=irritation: Gastritis is a label applied loosely to indicate any form of irritation in the stomach. It can occur with any stomach virus or from reflux or due to ingestion of a variety of irritating substances. Treatment is usually medicine based & with diet modification. I have never heard of any surgical procedure for simple gastritis.
