How long can a person have a tooth infection without pain?

Years: Years. But it is best to take care of it as soon as possible, since it may spread and cause septicemia.

It's All Relative: Usually a tooth infection can cause severe pain to the patient. I know from my patients, they've told me that toothaches are the worst. I've also seen patients with active infection and they didn't have any pain whatsoever. In other words, I do feel biology, bacteria, and tolerance play a role in when someone feels pain.
