A member asked:

What's the difference between hypotonic and hypertonic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

concentration: Hypo, less; hyper, more;iso, equal; tonic refers to concentration. A hypotonic solution has less dissolved particles than an isotonic solution .A hypertonic solution has more dissolved particles than a isotonic solution and many more than a hypotonic one.If all are added together they would commingle & eventually form an isotonic mixture.
