Ureters..: Ureters are usually straight tubes from your kidneys to your bladder. Tortuous means they are very curvy - kinda like those straws that swirl around. Hypotonic means they don't contract and move the urine down themselves very well. All this can mean the urine may not have the best route from kidney to bladder, and this can lead to urine backing up into the kidneys which can cause problems.

Here are some ...: The anatomical and functional significance of such a ureter to be individualized especially in an 18-year-old man. At best we can say, the change in your ureter has been long-term, probably lifelong. Therefore, please ask urologist when, what, & how to intervene such condition. Of note, what you have is nothing uncommon at all & the outcome of managing such is usually satisfactory.

Ureter not straight: Hypotonic means that ureter is non-peristaltic, i.e doesn't propel urine correctly. Also the ureter is winds side to side instead of being more-or-less straight. Usually due to a congenital abnormality such as reflux or obstruction. Bacterial toxins can also interfere with peristalsis.
