Floaters: Floaters after cataract surgery need prompt evaluation since they can indicate increased risk of retinal problems. Other issues such as dry eye, intraocular inflammation can cause similar symptoms so you should see your eye surgeon.

See your doctor: New floaters related, or unrelated to surgery require a dilated eye exam by an ophthalmologist to determine if a retinal tear or detachment is taking place; both of which can be sight threatening. Most floaters during the post op period are normal and not a problem, however pathology must be ruled out. Redness may be residual post op inflammation and may require more drops.
