Not contagious: Staph is part of the normal bacteria that reside on our skin. If someone gets a staph infection, it's because there was a breach of the normal body defense mechanisms, such as a wound, surgery, immune deficiency, etc. Healthy people do not get infected from someone who has a staph infection.
