Apply pressure to : Have the person sit up straight and lean forward slightly. Don't have the person lie down or tilt the head backward. With thumb and index finger, firmly pinch the nose just below the bone up against the face. Apply pressure for 5 minutes. Time yourself with a clock. If bleeding continues after 5 minutes, repeat the process. If not improved check with your doctor.

Controlling a nose: Bleed. If your nose bleeds hold your nostrils between fingers for about 10 minutes. Sit up ; hold your head ; neck forward so the blood doesn’t just flow down your throat. If you are able to – place a moistened cotton ball over the area that is bleeding. If you can’t control the bleeding after 20 minutes – seek medical assistance.
