Will abdominoplasty help with lower back pain due to a herniated disc?

Try exercise first: An abdominoplasty is not first line treatment for a herniated disk. Abdominal wall strengthening exercises are a better approach performed under the supervision of an orthopedic surgeon and/or therapist. That having been said there te some studies that suggest that the wide rectus abdominal muscle plication that is performed with most tummy tu is, may help, to improve the symptoms of a herniated di.

See Spine Surgeon: You would be surprised to find that many people have herniated disks and are asymptomatic. If the pain is indeed related to the disk, then you should see a spine surgeon (neurosurgeon or orthopedics). They can decide if exercise or surgery would be best for you. If chronic lower back pain can be helped with panniculectomy in certain cases of sagging, heavy tissue in the front of the tummy.

No: It may improve your posture but if you have pain because of a herniated disk, it probably will not be affected by the abdominoplasty.

Nope.: Abdominoplasty will help with laxity of the abdominal skin and muscles, it can removed excess abdominal skin and fat, and any stretch marks contained in the removed skin. While I have had some patients feel like the abdominal tightening helped their low back pain, abdominoplasty will not help with a herniated disk, and is not expected to help low back pain. See your doctor for a referal.
