A member asked:

Could a five year old get a wisdom tooth?

Doubtful, but....: It's doubtful that a 5 year old get a wisdom tooth, but it is normal for some 5 year olds to have their 1st permanent molar erupt. The 1st permanent molar erupts towards the back of their primary teeth so it may look like a wisdom tooth erupting.

No: Wisdom tooth will erupt around age 17 and sometimes as early as 14, but never at 5. Very likely, that is the first permenant molar which should erupt around age 6 and is so-called 6-year-old tooth. When it erupts, it will be partially coverd by gum tissue and the symptom is similar to wisdom tooth.
