Not likely: Tsh is a better indicator of thyroid health. For t4, it is better to measure free T4 rather than total t4.

Graves: If you're at high risk of Graves, e.g. strong family history, or if your thyroid tests are repeatedly "borderline", you could ask your doc to check anti-thyrotropin receptor antibodies (TRab).
