Hypermagnesemia: This means high magnesium levels in blood. This can cause irregular heart rates which can be occasionally fatal (called ventricular tachycardia). The high levels are more likely to occur in persons with kidney disease.

Too much magnesium: Oral ingestion of magnesium can lead to diarrhea; it is a decent laxative. If magnesium is absorbed, then blood levels will rise and BP will decline; it can also make muscles weak. Kidneys will eliminate magnesium if they are healthy
