A member asked:

If my hand is swollen and it's painful to make a fist, is it likely that it is broken?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

What happened?: The answer to your question depends on whether you suffered trauma and broke or sprained something. Without trauma you could have arthritis, chronic repetative strain. See your doctor. He can decide if an x-ray or other study is warranted.
