Cause and effect: Bedsores are caused by pressure that damages the tissues. Unless you can float, pressure relief is impossible. The keys are to spread the pressure out over larger areas so bony prominences do not take the brunt. Frequent position changes reduce time the pressure has a chance to damage the tissues. Good nutrition, keeping the skin moist and healthy, keeping bony areas away from themselves helps.
