Pulmonary edema: The best treatment in the presence of renal failure may vary by patient. Some patients respond to high dose diuretics and preload reduction, many need dialysis or hemofiltration.. When dialysis or hemofiltration isn't available and the situation demands one can even remove large volumes of fluid by inducing osmotic diarrhea.

Diuretics -dialysis: It depends how severe the renal failure is as to which treatment is best. If severe renal failure is present urgent dialysis is best to remove excess water. If not severe, sometimes diuretics can do the job.
