Dialysis: When your kidneys function less than 6 cc per minute calculated filtration rate, you should go on dialysis. Normal rate is about 60-75cc per minute. Unless you get chest pain , shortness of breath or severe swelling, you may not be ble to tell the difference between mild, moderte and severe kidney disease. You should bemonitored by a kidney specialist.

Treatment of CKD: The treatment depends on what stage chronic kidney disease (ckd) you have. Most patients do not need treatment until their parathyroid hormone levels start to increase and they are placed on vit. D analogues. If their phosphorus(p) is high, they are placed on p binders after meals. If their hemoglobin is low, they are placed on medicines to increase their blood count. Ask your nephrologist.
