Many,,,: The complications of chronic kidney disease are many. There is hypertension from inability of the kidneys to excrete fluid, along with edema or swelling in the body. There is anemia due to the kidney's inability to produce erythropoietin which stimulates red cell production. There is also accumulation of urea, a waste product and potassium which can affect heart rhythm, and many more besides.
