Anorexia nervosa : Mortality rates are the highest of any mental illness but are difficult to calculate accurately because people with eating disorders die of many things -- heart failure, organ failure, malnutrition, suicide, etc. The national association of anorexia nervosa and associated disorders (www.Anad.Org) reports a study in the amer j of psychiatry that gives a mortality rate for anorexia of 4 percent.
