Breast feeding: Initial guidelines were breast feed till 6 months. Now it is preferred till 12 months. Some studies showed breast feed till 2 years. Start solids at 6 months.

Look into reason: Breast feeding is more than nutrition. Some babies will look forward to "nurture time" more than others & it may what they don't want to lose. If baby is up chasing you down to feed, lingering after 15m/side & hard to put down after feeds, they may be nurture needy. If you must chase down the kid to feed, and it ends in 5 min, s/he is ready to wean.
