I just need to know can babies overfeed themselves? i breastfeed probably every 2-3 hours when i can tell baby wants to eat sometimes she wants to a little earlier. she is 2 months. her dr says to wait 3-4 hours and she's gaining weight too quickly?

I don't believe breast fed babies overfeed, but don't have access to its records to comment much. Babies do go through growth spirts and may feed more often some times than others. They can also use feeding as nurturing/cuddling so I encourage moms to be sure not to feed just before bedding them down. That can pattern them to feed just to re- sleep if they wake.
