Estradiol delivered : by transdermal patch does not yield high levels in breast milk, but delivery by vaginal suppository does. 5-month-olds have implicit memory & expectations that certain procedures will remain the same. Habits or learned behaviors at 6 mos. may cause a breast-fed baby to refuse a bottle from mom. If you must wean, you may need to stay away for 2-3 days & let dad or nana introduce a bottle.
