A member asked:

Is birth easier for women with wider hips?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, not usually: Wider hips and structure can help a bit, but the pelvis usually expands due to relaxin, a hormone that allows the pelvic girdle to relax a bit. Wider hips do not mean a more conducive birth canal usually. There are some things like horseback riding that can develop the pelvic floor muscles and make things harder though.
