Several weeks: It is common to have hip discomfort for several weeks after childbirth. Discomfort that is concerning, severe, or lasting more than a week should prompt you to see your OB to determine if is a significant issue that needs treatment. Non steroidal anti inflamatory medications (motrin, aleve), along with ice and heat may improve the discomfort. Physical therapy may be indicted in some cases.
