See your doctor: First a proper/correct diagnosis is important. There are many available drugs which may help. The key is to try to stay active. A body at rest stays at rest.

Integrative Medicine: I recommend you consider an evaluation by an integrative medicine or functional medicine doctor. I would encourage you to not just surrender to the diagnosis. Acupuncture, hormone optimization, exercise, detox of heavy metals if present, stopping gluten and other food sensitivities, attending to any methylation SNPS, can all help in addition to the more mainstream treatments.

When do symptoms of fibromyalgia start?

No clear age: Fibromyalgia (fms) is often considered an "old woman's" illness, even though the average age of diagnosis is now in the mid-30s. Some doctors refuse to diagnose chronic fatigue syndrome (me/cfs) in young people because they're clinging to the long-outdated notion of "yuppy flu" and burnout. In reality, these illness are in no way constrained by age.

Hey do you know what are the symptoms of fibromyalgia?

Generalized pain: Because there is no test for fibromyalgia, your doctor must rely solely on your group of symptoms to make a diagnosis. In the american college of rheumatology guidelines for diagnosing fibromyalgia, one of the criteria is widespread pain throughout your body for at least three months. "widespread" is defined as pain on both sides of your body, as well as above and below your waist.
A 43-year-old member asked:

I woke up this morning with the classic symptoms of fibromyalgia, achy everywhere. Is that what I have?

Not necessarily: Fibromyalgia requires constant pain for at least 3 months. Many things can cause you to wake up feeling achy, including viruses but these causes are usually short lived. Also, if you didn't sleep well it can cause the same symptoms as fibromyalgia. Give it some time or get a new mattress if it's more than 5 years old. Follow sleep hygiene recommendations to improve your sleep.
